Noam Rabinovich's Work
Even when its subjects are taken from seemingly remote scientific contexts, Noam Rabinovich's work bears a personal and private quality. The intimacy in his work stems perhaps from its character, from the positioning of the core of the practice in studio-work that is of primary significance for him. "The studio", for Rabinovich, is the recognition of the need for a personal space of experimentation and reflection, and the studio is a concrete workshop that makes a work routine possible.
Rabinovich's conception of art contains the personal rhythm of intimate artistic practice that is receptive to mental and emotional contexts, and draws from the world of workmanship sources that are essential for an art practice conducted in an affinity with the fabric of life.
His drawing and embroidery (which is in fact drawing with needle and thread) are incorporated into the elaborate process of the transformation of "nature" and "the world". Rabinovich's art exists within the range of a consistent, biographical endeavor of building a language that gathers into its reservoir of sources traces of impressions, experiences and emotions and engages in the creation of signs and forms. This is a conception of art that has ethical meaning.
